Accessibility statement
This website is run by West Northamptonshire Council in partnership with Cambridgeshire County Council. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:Â
- easily read the text on the screen
- understand instructions that are not purely based on shape, colour, size or sound
- pause, stop, or hide any moving, blinking or scrolling information
- zoom in up to 200% without the text spilling off of the screen
We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.
AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
 How accessible this website is
We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:Â
- most older PDF documents are not fully accessible and some may have broken links
- not all pages have full meta data descriptions that provide a summary of the page on search engines
- transcripts or subtitles aren’t always available on third party video contentÂ

Enforcement procedureÂ
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’). If you’re not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).Â
Technical information about this website’s accessibilityÂ
Northamptonshire County Council in partnership with Cambridgeshire County Council is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.Â
Compliance statusÂ
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.Â
Non-accessible contentÂ
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.Â
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulationsÂ
Some text does not have sufficient colour contrast so people with low vision or who are colour blind may struggle to read the content.Â
There are some instances where links in focus are not highlighted, which can affect people who need to use the tab key to cycle through the links on a page.Â
We’re working with our digital team to help us improve the accessibility of our website and plan to fix these issues.Â
Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulationsÂ
PDFs and other documentsÂ
The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services. For example, we do not plan to fix older versions of our annual report and statement of accounts.Â
Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.Â
Live videoÂ
We do not plan to add captions to live video streams because live video is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.Â
What we’re doing to improve accessibilityÂ
ShawTrust conducted an accessibility audit of our website which highlighted some areas for us to focus on fixing. We also get a weekly update from SiteMorse which shows us the accessibility priorities we need to focus on and we’re working through these with our digital team to fix them.Â
