Overview
Your LGPS pension can help your family if you die. We may pay:
- A dependant’s pension
This is a regular payment to a husband, wife, civil partner, or eligible partner. We may also pay eligible children. - A lump sum death grant
This is a one-off payment. It’s usually paid to the person you choose. You can tell us who to pay in your online pension account or by filling in an expression of wish form.
The amount we pay depends on whether you’re:
- paying into your pension
- not paying in but haven’t taken your deferred pension yet
- already getting your pension.
